ICW Day 2

We left Coinjock at 8AM, thinking that we’d only go 30NM to the Alligator River Marina and have a short day.

At 9:30 we were surprised to see a blimp!

9:45 AM. Decided to change plans and skip the Alligator River marina so we could get closer to Beaufort. The map showed lots of anchorages we could make it to before dark, so it was an easy decision.

1:25PM. Passed through the Alligator River Swing Bridge after only waiting for a few minutes for it it to open. This was our only timed bridge of the day.

4PM. Arrived at the Alligator River Cove anchorage (according to Active Captain). We realized it was our first time spending the night at anchor on Current Life and our first time anchoring on a catamaran. It was early enough when we got to the anchorage that we took the dinghy out and tried to get ashore for the dog. No luck, it was all marsh (on the plus side, Eve finally, after the situation became a bit frantic, learned to “go” on the boat!). We were surprised that no one else came into the anchorage all night as we thought it was peak ICW southbound travel season.
