Current Life’s standing rigging was about 14 years old and we weren’t sure how hard it was used the first 13 years of her life. We had Charleston Yachting inspect the rigging in Charleston last year and they didn’t find any problems. We decided that because of its age, we would change it out.
We emailed back and forth a few times with Jeff from Mojo Marine while we were in Ft Lauderdale and worked out a time in late February when he could replace the rigging. We were already planning to be in St Augustine at that time, and he lives in St Augustine, so the timing worked out perfectly.
We had to send Jeff a few measurements ahead of time so he could order the Sta-lock fittings, since those needed a small lead time. He came by and took most of the other measurements two days before he started the job.
On Friday, Jeff showed up with a dock cart full of wires and fittings.
By the end of the day Friday, he had finished most of the work on the diamonds. He came back on Saturday, got the shrouds cut and installed and made progress getting the headstay cut. The rain came before he could finish up so he came back and spent a few hours on Monday getting the headstay squared away and fine tuning the shroud tension.
As boat work goes, this was painless. Jeff showed up, did the work, came in a little under budget, and did a great job. Can’t wait to get out and put the new rig to work.
