We decided to tackle the Chesapeake all at once instead of stopping along the way like we did on the way North. The trip ended up taking 26 hours. Mostly calm wind and overcast skies along the way.
7:31AM. Left Bert Jabin’s. Raining. 4 knots wind.
Leaving Annapolis
8:48AM. Past Thomas Point. No wind at all even though it was forecast 10-15 knots. Still raining. Running both engines.
9:37AM. Still no wind. Shutting down port engine so we don’t get to Norfolk too early tomorrow morning.
10:30AM. Saw Rogue Angel. We think that’s Bob and Marilu’s boat who we had met in Charleston earlier this year.
1:35PM. Finally some wind. 12 knots at 120 degrees.
3:17PM. Sun came out for the first time today. Wind is down to 6 knots. Running port engine.
Just past the Potomac and barely into Virginia when the sun set
The overnight sail was uneventful. No wind but a few hours of waves on the beam. We followed the tugboat, Ross Sea, for most of the night.
