First Passage

We didn’t make a blog post describing our passage from Vero Beach to Charleston after we first bought the boat. This picture is a good reminder of how inexperienced we were. Rough seas 70 nautical miles East of Jacksonville. Still two nights away from Charleston.

San Juan Sailing Day 4 – Victoria

Not much to write about today as we did no sailing. We spent the day exploring the city of Victoria. We started the day with breakfast at Starbucks (some habits are hard to change). Next we took a walk along the waterfront. The only thing we took a picture of was this huge ship whose job is to lay undersea fiber optic cables. Since there’s not much to write about, I’ll throw in another picture of Foxy Freda.

San Juan Sailing Day 3 – Stuart Island to Victoria Harbor

After a very calm night in Prevost harbor we headed out early for Victoria, British Columbia. We’d heard the current was strong in the Haro Strait so we didn’t want to be against it. The atlas told us that until about noon, the current would be with us. We checked the weather in the morning and it looked like storms would be rolling through the entire day. There was a small craft advisory until 5PM.

San Juan Sailing Day 2 - Clark Island to Stuart Island

We awoke after a windy, wake-filled night at Clark Island ready to head over to Stuart Island. As part of our provisioning before we left on the trip, we stopped at Starbucks in Anacortes and picked up coffee, a french press and four classic coffee cakes still in their wrapper. For breakfast we had two of the coffee cakes and made use of the french press. After breakfast, we set sail for Stuart island.
